We are very excited because it's Halloween this weekend! So we decided that we would have a fun spooky Earth Club and we thought it might be a good idea to investigate Bats! Lets have a look and see!
π¦ Bat Facts! π¦
First we took a look at two short videos and a fact sheet about Bats. Here are some of the things that we didn't know before and that really surprised us about Bats...

I didn't know that Bats are pollenators. And I liked learning about how Bats use echolocation to find their way around!
What's Echolocation? Bats send out waves of sound from their mouths or noses, which bounce off their surroundings and travel back to their ears. By listening to the echoes, bats can build up a picture of exactly whatβs around them. (Credit: National Geographic - 10 Brilliant Bat Facts. See link below)

I didn't know that bats make good mamas and they have nurserys inside caves where there can be thousands of baby bats and there mums at a time. And when the mama needs to find food it can leave it's baby in the nursery and when it comes back it can still find it's baby out of the thousands of bats because each bat has it's own special smell and voice! I also didn't know that they are pollinators and that they poop out seeds as one way of pollinating!
